about

Another oldie that I'd recorded years back but never quite nailed down. I know people that are like each of these characters, and I've been both of them myself. Perhaps sadly, I thought the demise of their relationship could be fodder for some funny lines, and I still do. Plus it's a good excuse to force an awkward rhyme in homage to Oscar Wilde.

lyrics

You say you could die from all this dormancy
I say living largely torments me
So why do we bother anymore?

You want to live a life of spectacle
I want it quiet and respectable
So why do we bother anymore?

You are so pretty
When you're taking off your shoes
And the lamp highlights your hair
That's all I want
And that's all I need to have
Nothing in the world compares

You say drugs are more fun than love
I say you should know you've had enough
So why do we bother anymore?

You are so pretty
When you're not under a spell
Or trying to be star
That's all I wanted
And that's all I need to have
Nothing in the world compares

You say I am not a fun jury
I say I know you're gonna bunbury
So why should I bother
When you can't be bothered
Why do we bother anymore?

about

The Marble Tea Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey

Drawing mandalas and watching Captain Kangaroo...that's pretty much what it's like in here. I enjoy writing songs about my cats and cartoon insects, but I'm also fond of feeling up the tentacles that lead to the oneness of existence. That's the Marble Tea experience.

Recommended for fans of Jonathan Richman, Robyn Hitchcock, Jazz Butcher, Magnetic Fields, etc.
